Keep your B&O Tax dollars local!

One of the easiest ways to contribute to Oak Harbor Main Street Association is through Business and Occupation (B&O taxes). We work with the Department of Historic Preservation and Archeology's Main Street tax credit program to provide credit for private contributions. 

Once your business requests to donate the Department of Revenue will file it. Once approved, you are eligible for a tax credit worth 75% of the contribution to your yearly B&O tax bill. You essentially are self-directing your business taxes!

Sound too good to be true? Here's how it works. Businesses must be registered to file their state excise tax electronically.  Your pledged donation can be broken up into separate payments, but you must pledge early in the year to guarantee the donation is eligible. Businesses take the tax credit the following year. OHMSA will utilize donations to do outreach, marketing, beautification, and organization of our wonderful, downtown community.

How does the Main Street Tax Credit Incentive Program Work?

Starting January 10th, 2022, as a business, when you pledge to donate to the Oak Harbor Main Street Association (OHMSA) through the Washington Main Street Tax Credit Program, you will receive 75% of your donation back as a WA State B&O tax credit for 2023. Your full pledged amount is also tax deductible, since the OHMSA is a 501(c)3 nonprofit.

This means you are able to redirect your tax dollars back into our Historic Downtown - helping us in our mission to create a vibrant, waterfront community. Visit the WA Department of Revenue’s website to make your pledge.

Step 1:

1.     Sign in or create an account

2.     Choose “More Excise Tax Options” in the Account box

3.     Select “Manage/Apply for a Tax Credit” in the Credits box

4.     Select “Add Main Street Application”

5.     Find Oak Harbor Main Street Association and enter the Contribution Amount; click next

6.     Fill in the required information and Submit.

Step 2: Before November 15th, 2022 your pledge is due to Oak Harbor Main Street Association.  Just mail a check payable to Oak Harbor Main Street Association, PO Box 851, Oak Harbor WA 98277.
